Well guys, it happened. I'm an idiot. I swerved to avoid a cat and badly fucked up my 2004 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ rally.

It's gonna cost around 2500$ to fix, but upon looking at local auto-lots I was struck with a dillema: it would be cheaper to buy a certain car, which is less than 10 years old, is rear-wheel drive, has a v-8, and makes a lot of power, for around the same cost as repairs. That car is a Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. One hell of a difference from my 2400-pound, asthmatically powered 130-some horsepower I4 Lancer 5-speed.

So, does anyone own them? how 'fun' are they? Are they relatively flingable? I was thinking of getting one and welding the diff, using it as a fun hoonbobile.

Also has anyone else gone from strictly-manual to automatic? I've never really driven an automatic. So what can I expect? I know autos get a lot of hate in this subreddit, but apparently any automatic tranny after 1995 can keep up just as well with a manual.

Another question: in the automatic, if I 'floor it' will the tranny redline before shifting, or will it like, always shift at 3grand RPMs or whatever? Thanks guys!
