Intel active management technology for windows 7

Intel Active Management is a feature on Intel motherboard chipsets that allows network administrators to manage computers from a central location. Because this feature is present in the computer's hardware, a network administrator can use it regardless of the operating system or other software installed on the computer. On a home computer, however, there is little reason to enable this feature. Disable Intel Active Management through your motherboard's BIOS configuration utility.

1.

Restart the computer. Save all unsaved files and documents. Click the Windows logo in the lower left corner of the desktop. Click the arrow next to the 'Shut Down' button. Then click 'Restart.' Windows shuts down, and the screen goes dark.

2.

Press the 'F2' key immediately when the screen turns back on. The computer displays the motherboard setup utility.

3.

Push the right-arrow key to highlight 'Intel ME' at the top of the screen.

Tip

  • If your computer has an Intel motherboard customized by a computer manufacturer such as Dell, HP or Lenovo, your screen may display an instruction to press a key to enter the motherboard setup utility when the computer starts. If the instruction displays a key other than 'F2,' press that key.
